FRAGO, Homer Ward III "Skip" (2003, June 13): "...Grandpa always told me the story of how he got his name. Homer Ward was a friend of
Antonio and Docia, our great grandparents, and he had a fine team of horses and wagon, and lived on a ranch nearby. A young easterner who had recently arrived in the Two Dot area, coveted the team and wagon, so he shot Homer Ward through the window while he was eating and stole the team and wagon. When friends of Homer Ward saw the rig in Billings, and knowing he would not part with it, they rode out and found him dead. They tracked down the easterner, tried and hung him within a week. Apparently he wrote a letter back to his family apologizing for what he did shortly before he died. Being that Docia was pregnant at the time, and they thought so much of Homer Ward, they decided to name their child Homer Ward Frago should they have a son, and they did. I get a kick out of telling that story whenever anyone teases me about my name, as I doubt they can track theirs back to 1904 Montana! Two Dot was also made famous by the old Western show Alias Smith and Jones by the way."
