| In October of 1999 Frank Reed visited my open studio and told me about seeing this Miata parked on Bryant Street, below the San Francisco Bay Bridge, on his daily commute. He was struck by the way its colors seemed to change as he passed by and thought I might like to photograph it. The car had a splendid paint job with a smooth gradation from chartreuse to gold to pink to mauve to candy apple. I photographed it on 3 different occasions and was delighted with the abstractions that came from the color, line, form, and reflections. Thanks, Frank! (Thanks also to metal artist Aryen Hart who visted this page and divulged the secret of the mystery paint: It is chameleon paint manufactured by Dupont under the name Chromalusion.)
