LINKS
to ARTIST and PHOTOGRAPHER SITES :
AUST, Carol
: Carol paints homey scenes with a sense of danger/intrigue/magic
in the style of Daumier-meets-the Fauves.
CITRET, Mark
: Diana's husband. Wields a big view camera and specializes in
architecture and landscape. The photograph on his home page is
perfect.
THE NOCTURNES
: A site, devoted to night photography and other things nocturnal,
that I found while searching for photographer Tim Baskerville
on the web. I also found Laura Miller there. She runs ColorArts
and has been doing my color printing for a couple of decades.
Mystical images and technical how-to.
LINKS to FORMER NANNY GOAT HILL GALLERY MEMBERS (Founded by
Mark Green in 1972, Nanny Goat Hill Gallery was an artists' cooperative,
first in Bernal Heights, and later on Russian Hill in San Francisco.
Skyrocketing rents forced a closure around 1987, but there was
a retrospective exhibit of former NGHG artists at the Somarts
Gallery in 1997. Please send along links to any of the scores
of NGHG artists not listed here):
BENIOFF,
Carol : Gone to Oakland CA, Carol used to paint intriguing,
empty rooms à la Hopper; now there are people in the rooms
and she illustrates multiple layers digitally.
CLEVELAND,
Jane Marie : Sounds familiar. One of those said to possess
a "good eye."
COLWELL, Guy : Guy is probably living in
the East Bay, or North Africa, or Paris. He's done some murals
for the Oakland Zoo and we expect he still paints figuratively
and sociologically. There are lots of links to Colwell art on
the web, here's just one.
CULP,
Jane : This woman can paint. And she tends to do it in New
York and in the plein air of mountainous landscapes.
HARRISON, Christine : Tillamook OR based,
mixed-media maven with a talent for manipulating concrete, mosaics,
sheet metal, collage, and Polaroid transfers. Labyrinths and
towers are her specialties. Oh, Christine!
KUCHINSKAS,
Susan : Now living in Berkeley, Susan used to sculpt neon
and sing in a band; now she makes birdbaths and writes novels
and technical articles; but, really, there is nothing she can't
do.
KUSER,
Olivia : Used to draw her hair; now paints landscapes and
wonderful monotone marshscapes.
RAPOPORT,
Alek : Born in the Ukraine. Sadly, Alek died just as we were
preparing a 25 year retrospective of Nanny Goat Hill Gallery
in 1997. Thankfully, much of his work is documented at his website.
RAYBEE,
Elizabeth : Potter Valley CA Mosaicist included in many books
on the subject of mosaics.
ROSE,
Timothy : Mobile artist extraodinaire working out of the
Mare Island artist studios.
STEINER,
Glenn : Has the good life down; gets paid to travel the world
making photographs for art and industry.
TURNER,
Dona : Now in Oakland CA, her website shows her colorful,
fun, commercial output.
WESTERGARD,
Patricia : Pat has an excellent eye for composition and primarily
paints fragments of abandoned or weathered architecture.
WULFF-STEINER,
Rose : Rose now lives in Fairfax CA where she produces dark,
circus-centric prints and paintings, and trompe l'oeil murals.
